Beautify table via CSS help

I've updated the CSS for my table to look like this in my report:

I was wondering if anyone could help with the following:

1. Remove the row number column and stretch the first column (months) to take up that entire space. I was able to white-out the numbers with this:

  mode-table th {
    background: white !important;
    border: none !important;
    font-family: "Futura", Arial, sans-serif !important;
    color: white !important;
    padding-right: 100px;
  }

2. Add a little padding to the far right of the table. The thin white border is from the table dimensions.

3. (optional) Make the color gradient by row. I've seen the conditional formatting, but this is just for general appearances.

My goal is to get the table to look more like the following:

 Any help here would be much appreciated.
